Frequently asked questions.

What is the Mental Gymnastics Academy?

The Mental Gymnastics Academy (MGA) offers support to gymnasts of all levels, on the mental side of their training.

Through 1:1 mental coaching, I help gymnasts build confidence, manage competition nerves, navigate pressure, overcome mental blocks, and develop strong, resilient minds that support both performance and wellbeing both on and off the mat.

Alongside individual coaching, MGA is launching flexible, self-paced online courses designed specifically for gymnasts. These courses teach practical, evidence-based mental skills in a way that fits around busy training schedules.

Each lesson is designed to be completed on the go, whether that’s on the way to training, between school and the gym, or over breakfast. Gymnasts can work through the content at their own pace, one activity at a time.

Who is the Mental Gymnastics Academy for?

The Mental Gymnastics Academy (MGA) benefits gymnasts of all levels, from recreational to elite.

Mental training is just like physical conditioning. It isn’t something you wait to use when there’s a problem. It’s something you build consistently to strengthen resilience, confidence, and performance over time.

Too often, support is only sought once a gymnast develops a mental block or begins to experience skill regression. At MGA, we focus on prevention as well as recovery. Helping gymnasts build the mental foundations they need before challenges arise.

1:1 Coaching:

MGA offers 1:1 mental coaching for children aged 6 and above.

In gymnastics, young athletes begin training high risk skills from a young age. Developing emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience alongside those physical skills help them train safely and sustainably.

Online Courses (Launching Soon)

Due to the independent and reflective nature of the content, MGA courses are designed for gymnasts aged 10 and above.

Gymnasts 8 and above, would require a parent or guardian to complete the course alongside them, and support them with discussion and reflection.

Can parents be involved in 1:1 coaching sessions?

1:1 sessions work best when gymnasts are able to speak privately and openly. Creating space for honest reflection helps build confidence, independence, and trust in the process.

Parents will receive a brief summary after sessions outlining:

  • The general focus of the session

  • The tools or strategies introduced

  • Ways they can support their gymnast at home

Confidentiality is essential in creating a safe and supportive environment. The specific details of what a gymnast shares; including personal reflections or worksheet responses, will remain private.

Information will only be shared without consent if:

  • There is a safeguarding concern

  • There is a risk of harm to the gymnast or others

Gymnasts are always encouraged to share their learning and reflections with their parents if they feel comfortable doing so.

How long do gymnasts have to complete courses?

Once you purchase a course, it’s yours for life. You can return to it whenever you need. Before a competition, after a setback, or during a big mindset shift.

Can coaches or clubs use this with their athletes?

Many coaches are looking for ways to support their gymnasts beyond physical training-and these resources are designed to do just that. If you’re a coach or club interested in using the Mental Gymnastics Academy with your athletes, get in touch to chat about a custom package.

Can I get a refund if the course isn’t right for me?

We want every gymnast to feel fully supported on their journey. If you’re unsure whether a course is the right fit, please reach out before purchasing-we’re happy to help guide you. Since our courses are digital and downloadable, they cannot be returned once purchased. However, we do consider refund requests on a case-by-case basis to ensure your satisfaction.
